First, foremost, and most importantly, we should establish the fact that downtime and I are not a pretty pair.  When boredom kicks in, power tools and hot glue are my best friends and we tend to wreck shit.  Sunday night following True Blood, I was too wired off of honey whiskey to sleep and simply tired of watching television.  In my basement there sat 4 old console type, televisions (you know the kinds with the heavy protruding asses, long before the days of flat screens) three of which no longer worked.

Long story short, I made a mini bookcase out of a mini television set.

I can sum up the entire process in three steps:

A. Remove every screw that you can see
B. Pull the two halves apart and disconnect any wiring connecting the screen to the electrical board
C. Wipe down the inside of the frame and within it place whatever the hell you fancy

The inside of the television

The screws and my best bud, Bumble (the screwdriver)

After all the mechanical crap was done

The frame: side view

The frame: detail shot

I chose to use it as a bookcase but we can all pretty much agree that the likelihood of it staying that way forever is very low. I may mount it on the wall and put a small plant inside....or maybe I will buy a larger square bowl and use the frame as a border for my fishbowl. Hummm, just saying those out loud is making my muse tingle.

And now a few closing shots....
Yes, that is a orange lava lamp and my iPhone headset (so cute)...
Aerial-ish view

Not so aerial-ish view

Inside: Books. Vinyl. Card Games. Scented Candle.

Stage 1 of a 3-stage +DIY shoe project.
Can't you just feel the potential....

*sidenote* - those damn screwback spikes are fuckin' expensive.  For all you kiddies, new to the DIY scene, it is always better to buy in bulk.  Trust me, $5 here and there adds up quick, fast, and in hurry.

Stay Inspired,

It was approximately 3:35ish in the morning and I was right smack in the middle of a rather boring skype rap with my uptown affiliate.  We two are working on something, something...well, spanktacular!  It's still in the "dreamscape" phase but it's potential makes me giddy just thinking about it.

Ntwho, our conversation had drifted from psyched to painstaking delirium, you know too exhausted to make any sense but too enthralled to call it quits.  So, in my attempt to keep my sanity, I went into my handy dandy craft crate.  I had no clear objective but as inspiration is naturally flighty, I had a feeling it would work out in the end..and IT DID!

Sort of amazed that I have never masterminded a pair of bottle cap earrings yet.  Of all the random ass objects that I have converted into jewelry, one would think that the chicadee who drinks on a weekly basis would have done something creative with the aftermath of our consumption.

The execution was quick fast with a difficulty level of about .5

The only tool used was a push pin and a baggie full of clamps/hooks/connector hoops.

My ode to the irony that is boredom and my inability to just dwell within the realm of downtime.
Currently plotting to find my "SIT YOUR ASS DOWN" button.

Until next time,

Once upon a time there were a pair of Steve Madden mary-janes
They were the perfect height for a high school nerd, yet hot enough for a sexually-charged teen

High school ended and she moved on to chunky heels and sky-high wedges
The mary-janes lay dormant in that basement bin
Until the day we found one another again.

Two boxes of silver plated square brads later....

Not bad for a boredom inspired whim.
Damn right!!

 Until next time,
