There was this weekend (don't ask me when exactly it was, because not only was I thoroughly inebriated but I was also suffering from a slight stage of delirium) and I was in the basement alone and browsing through the glory that is my father's vinyl collection. Moments (and a vodka re-up) later, I came across a stack of old JET magazines. It was like falling in love with black people all over again. Each cover featured an effortlessly perfect woman, man, and/or couple. Additionally, the text on each cover was provocative and highly relevant unlike some of the covers that grace magazines nowadays...I mean, seriously, I could give a fuck less about the 50 'new' ways to please my man.
After reading through maybe five issues cross-legged on the cold floor, I was struck with an overwhelming case of inspiration. Oh how I LOVE it when that happens. I choose an issue with a cover that tickled my psyche the most. The cover was scanned and after a little bit of pulling/pushing/cutting/and other manners of editing, my vision was achieved.
The question: What would happen if one was to couple the elegant simplicity of 1950's JET with modern-day design?
I dug the outcome so much that I kept going x3. Granted, it took damn near a month for me to finish due in large part to how I tend to oversaturate my summer days. I'm not hating on the wait thou, 'twas so worth it.
